My dimple-darling girl rolled over for the first time on
Monday (7/16) and our world has rolled over as well.
Our Lil Pea absolutely hates being on her belly. Hates it with the fire of a thousand
suns. However, she flat refuses NOT to
use her new skill. (Which is great, as
we actually want her to learn to move and groove!) She's usually super proud of herself for a moment, which I love. But, when she rolls from her back to her
belly, she quickly realizes that she's on her belly and alerts the whole neighborhood of her displeasure. My husband and I feel like short order cooks
with all the fast flipping we’ve been doing. Did
I mention that every time she rolls, she spits up too? I'm running low on wipes and doing a ton of laundry! Haha!
I’ve read counter arguments as to how to deal with our
current situation and I was wondering if you moms out there have any advice….
Some articles tell us that babies learn by trial and error
and it’s best to let her get frustrated and figure this out “on her own”. (Not to let her scream her little head off
for hours or anything, but allow for some tears of frustration.) Other articles suggest that she should learn
to roll the other direction in a happy environment (aka, not while she’s in
tears and raging mad) and that we should basically sit on top of her to roll
her back over until she does it on her own.
Personally, I’m a believer of the happy medium – but for Sam there is no
happy medium. Once she’s over, she’s
pissed.
My next question….
How long did it take for your kids to get this rolling thing down? I’ve read anywhere from a couple of weeks to
a month or longer! Eeep!!
