6 weeks left... and counting!

Life marches on at the Everingham Homestead...

32 Weeks (my birthday)
Lil Pea and I had another regularly scheduled appointment with Dr. E this past Wednesday.  Lil Pea continues to do well, as far as they can tell.  Her heart rate’s normal and I’ve finally gained a pound or two.  Haha!  My blood sugars, while trending upwards, are still within “normal” ranges.  No return of proteins in my urine and my blood pressure was actually pretty good this time around.  The next appointment is set for February 21st and is an ultrasound!  We should find out, at that time, what kind of delivery plan we’re heading towards.  As of our last ultrasound, they were talking about induction one week ahead of her due date (sometime in the week of March 22) and the likelihood of a cesarean.  Though, it looks like that depends on the doctor on call.  Two of the doctors we’ve seen since that ultrasound have given us encouragement that we’ll at least get to try for a natural birth.  So, we’ll see!

Meanwhile, she continues to be an active little munchkin.  I can get my kick counts in at just about any time of the day; she’s almost always moving in some way.  I’ve had a few Braxton Hicks contractions that were pretty much painless (just enough to notice something was happening).  Yesterday, I’m pretty sure I felt my first taste of hiccups, which was pretty cool feeling.  As long as she’s not kick boxing my lungs, I really do enjoy her every movement.  It’s hard to believe that we’re nearing her arrival date.  I think I will miss this closeness with her.  Lord knows, I’m sure to miss my sleep!!  Haha!  I won’t, however, miss the ever-increasing heartburn.  Booo!

We got our tour of the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby sections of the hospital at our last birthing class.  The new L&D area is beautiful!  I’m really excited that we get to deliver there.  The Mother/Baby section two floors up leaves a little to be desired…  It’s obviously an older section of the hospital with much smaller rooms and ugly carpeting.  Here’s hoping that we can have a natural birth and be out of there in 24 hours rather than the customary 3 to 4 days they keep you for a cesarean.  I’m only allowed to have three people in with me.  Each person will be issued a bracelet that gives them access to my room.  We’ve chosen Richard (obviously), Heather (for her nursing background and her ability to make me laugh in the worst situations), and my Mom (cause, well, she’s mom).  I hate that this leaves my other sister in the waiting room the whole time.  But if we can find a way to get her back, we will.  Once Lil Pea is here, they will move us up to Mother/Baby and then anyone can come visit us.  Just for the birth itself are we restricted.

In other news, my house is coming along!  Richard and I bought our last set of blinds for the upstairs.  I only get two blinds a month, so we can stretch our “home improvement” budget.  Our bathroom and the kitchen were my last two upstairs rooms.  We still have to do the basement, but that’s not as high a priority for me.  This coming weekend, my Dad and brother-in-law are coming over to help put up the new garage door opener!!  I’m crazy excited about that!!  I might also leave behind a little “Honey Do” list of some of the other odds and ends around the house that I’ve wanted to get done.  The closet door in the guest room needs to be hung properly, Lil Pea’s book shelves need hung, can racks in the pantry need hung, etc.  So, yeah, I think I can keep them busy.  Haha!

Loki has recovered amazingly well from his neutering.  He’s a changed beast!!  We haven’t had a single accident in the house since he got cut.  He’s been able to be out with us for the full day, only kenneled when we’re out of the house, for bedtime, and when fed.  He still needs some work on manners, but the improvement is unbelievable!!  Richard and I took him on a walk this past Tuesday.  He really enjoyed splashing around in the water, which was totally unexpected considering the way he abhors getting his feet wet in the bath tub.  Guess the river is just more fun…  Here are some pictures from our romp.

He got a bath when we got home for his full in dive!  He was soaked to the bone.

Richard started his new shift this week.  He’s now working from 2pm until 10 pm on Monday through Friday.  I’m pretty excited about weekends off!  We’ll see how we adjust to the hour changes.  We’re going to start eating our main meal at noon, so he can still have “dinner”.  Though, we’re starting slow on that – sort of easing into it.  It’s odd to be thinking of dinner when before I was just thinking about breakfast.  Overall, though, I think it will be a good change for us.

So that’s the scoop on how things are going so far; we’ll keep ya posted!  :o)
